New-To-Me Blogs

I have to take a moment to express my admiration and love for new-to-me blogs, Joy The Baker and Sterling Style. After stumbling across their blogs, I found myself reading entries, comments and admiring all the beautiful photos.

Sterling Style is a genius fashion blog with lots of photos of outfits and fashion. Her style is very eclectic, yet glamorous and beautiful. I've already started jotting down some fashion tips! A blog definitely worth checking out ASAP!

Joy the Baker, covers recipes of all sorts, from traditional baked goods like chocolate chip cookies to creative dishes like Proscuitto Dijon Gruyere Puffs. I've already tried a few of her recipes and they turned out absolutely delicious. Stop by and check out her blog if you haven't already!

Halloween Costumes

I wish I was still 6 and could wear one of these adorable costumes from Pottery Barn Kids! I love it!

Weekend Recap

Ah Monday yet again! The weekend flew by!

On Saturday, Josh and I ran a few quick errands in the morning and quickly headed home to make a few tasty football treats (mimosas, pig n' blankets, chips and dip, and chicken taquitos) for the Oregon vs UW game. What a great game! We had to wake up early on Sunday for the Run Like Hell race, so we took it easy Saturday night and watched a couple movies and caught up on TV shows we had dvr'd. After a sleepless night, we got out of bed and headed downtown for our 10k race; to our surprise we had a lot of fun and really enjoyed checking out peoples' unique costumes. The run started at 7:30, right as the sun was rising over one of the bridges in Portland, it was absolutely beautiful and made the run that much more enjoyable. Definitely a race we will do for years to come. We're going to try and tackle a half marathon for our next run! I cant wait!

Any exciting weekend stories?! I'd love to hear them!

Enjoy your fall weekend! Stay dry!

Cutest Pumpkin Proposal

I just had to post this as I got goosebumps when I read the story on Joanna's blog, A Cup of Jo!

John took his girlfriend Ariel on a drive up Mount Sugarloaf in Massachusetts. Ariel suddenly spotted a thousand pumpkins in a field below, spelling out "Ari, Please Marry Me." How freaking sweet is that?

Chicken Tortilla Soup

Since autumn weather has officially arrived, I've started to crave warm comfort food. I went home last night after driving in the rain and made chicken tortilla soup. The recipe was so easy and within 30 minutes my soup was ready. It was exactly what I needed.

After devouring the soup, my body started to crave something sweet. I've been drooling over all the recipes on one of my new favorite blogs, Joy the Baker, and after much contemplation I decided on Peanut Butter Fudge Rice Krispy treats, YUM!

I'm still full from all the goodies from last night, but it was well worth it!

Rain, Rain go away

I've lived in Oregon all my life, and I still cannot stand the rain. I dont know if it's because I hate umbrellas, or the fact that I hate getting wet. Either way, I will never truly enjoy the rain. Time to buy some rain boots!

Over the Knee Socks Trend

What do you think of over the knee socks? I'm kind of excited to try it. Paired with the right skirt/dress, and shoes, I think it could turn out super cute. A few outfits I'm going to attempt to replicate:

Weekend Recap

It was a beautiful fall weekend in Portland. I spent most of the weekend relaxing and enjoying good food, television and shopping. It was a perfect, uneventful weekend.

Josh and I are running the 10K Run Like Hell race next weekend, we just started getting serious and "training" for the run. I really enjoy running with someone else, especially someone (Josh) who is as competitive as me. It pushes me to work harder, not to give up and give it my all. I'm really excited for this race, not only because its my first of the year, but because you get to dress up in costumes! Josh and I are trying to come up with fun ideas, but the creative juices just arent flowing. Any fun ideas?

Hope you had a great weekend!

Fall Fashion

The weather has been absolutely miserable in Portland, so its just about the right time to get my gear out for fall, sweaters, boots, and scarves. A few of my favorite looks that I'll be attempting this season:

These sweaters are big and bulky, yet quite fashionable!

Emily, looking fabulous as always! I love the boyfriend blazer with the skirt look for fall/winter and I'm absolutely in love with her boots!

This outfit is calling my name! I love it all- the red boots, the sweater and the leggings. The perfect outfit for a Sunday afternoon.

Love the scarves!

Weekend Recap

Oh Monday yet again...

The weekend was filled with fall fun, good eats and wonderful friends. Josh and I tackled a few of our fall to-do's and had a mouth watering breakfast at Pine St. Biscuits (a must, if you haven't been yet!), and then headed over to Kruger's Farm to pick out our pumpkins! It was the perfect end to our weekend! How was your weeeknd? Any good stories?

Happy {Fall} Weekend!

Happy Friday! The weather is suppose to be in the mid 60's with a little bit of sunshine here in Portland- perfect for pumpkin patches, corn mazes and haunted houses! I cannot wait!

Have a beautiful weekend!

Artichokes

I've really been craving artichokes these last few weeks. I've learned to love all things artichokes due to my best friend, Jenny, who is absolutely obsessed with them. Eating an artichoke without her just doesn't taste the same, but I'm going to attempt to make some tonight, and I can only hope they turn out just as good. I found the cutest pictures of a wedding that used artichokes as their centerpieces, it's brilliant!

Fall Essentials

For the last few weeks, I've been on a search for a few fall essentials: the perfect skinny jeans, black boots, and a boyfriend blazer. So far, I've found the perfect jeans (Gap) and black boots (Nordstrom), but just can't seem to find the perfect blazer. I've searched high and low at every store I can think of and nothing! So, if you have any suggestions on where I can find one, please let me know! Here are the jeans and boots, let me know what you think...

Goodbye Gourmet

Its been a rough one for Conde Nast, after closing Domino earlier this year, and now announcing that they'll be closing Gourmet (I still cant believe it!) Cookie, Modern Bride and Elegant Bride.

It's been known that the magazines have sustained a severe decline in ad's but the closure is a complete shock. Not sure how or why they came up with the decision, but I'm sure there is good reason behind it. I'm still curious to know what went wrong, especially on how they came about the decision to get ride of Gourmet and not Bon Appetit. There had been speculation that Conde Nast would close one of its food magazines, Gourmet or Bon Appetit, but most bets were on Bon Appetit. Gourmet has been around since 1940 and has been well known in the food world and my household. My family has used many different recipes and ideas from the fabulous magazine. I loved the restaurant tips, wine suggestions, and lush photography. I'm sad to see such a great magazine go.

Happy {Lovely} Weekend!

Friday FINALLY! This weekend two of my bestest friends from college are coming in to town and we're heading down south Saturday morning for the Duck game. We're crossing our fingers for sun (doubtful...)! A weekend filled with tailgaters, best friends, and late, late nights. I cannot wait!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Fall To Dos

I'm so excited for for fall and everything that comes along with it. This summer I made a list of things I wanted to do (and eat!) before the summer was over: go to the park, Oba's happy hour, Sauvies Island, beach, camping, and so much more. Yesterday, I started thinking about my list for fall , and so far I have quite the list. Here is my top five at the moment:

1. Haunted House, Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze

2. Have a bottle of wine at Noble Rot

3. Eat breakfast at Pine St. Biscuits and Flavour Spot

4. Have a coffee and pastry at La Petite Provence

5. Travel out of Oregon

Coffee

I wouldn't be able to get through the mornings without a cup, or two of coffee. mmm...enjoying my first cup now.
